UPDATED October 2017: So this is an updated picture for this recipe, it is by far the most popular and most pinned recipe on my blog. Hope you enjoy!
I made this recipes a while back for a party then came across is again the other day when trying to figure out a menu for a baby shower! I got my friend Julie to whip it up and instead of just the toffee pieces they crushed real heath bars so it had chocolate too and I think it made it a lot better. It was amazing, I could have eaten it with a spoon!
2 8oz cream cheese
3/4 cups brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1-1 1/2 cups heath toffee bits (or crushed heath bars)
3/4 cups brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1-1 1/2 cups heath toffee bits (or crushed heath bars)
Mix everything together and serve with apple slices!
This dip is tooo delicious. Thanks for sharing the recipe. It is so tempting to just eat it with a spoon. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks great! As my daughter just said, "I just got diabetes reading that recipe". That's how you know it's going to be good. lol. And saw that you adopted internationally, can't wait to go back and read your other posts!
ReplyDeleteJust saw your comment Traci! Not much about our adoption on this blog but lots on our family blog, there is a link button on the top left hand side :)

We've been making this dip for years and EVERYONE loves it!!! Looove it for the fall :)
ReplyDeleteIt would be deliscious with Teddy Grahams or pretzels too :)
ReplyDeleteHow long does this usually stay "good" in the fridge for? I would like to make it tonight (Wednesday) and have it for camping all weekend... Thoughts??
ReplyDeleteHow many heath bars do you think? This sounds wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteCan you clarify the cream cheese amount?
ReplyDeletetwo 8oz pkgs of cream cheese?
is the "2" a typo, should it be one 8oz pkg of cream cheese?
Thanks
Heather
no it's two 8 oz packs of cream cheese. did you make it and run into a problem?
DeleteOh this was so good! I crushed 4 1/2 of a 6 bar pack of Heath bars. (the remaining 1 1/2 was for snacking... haha) Loved this and I could and did eat with a spoon. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI forgot about this recipe. I love this dip. You are only using the apple as the vessel to eat the dip!!
ReplyDeleteI have made something similar & layered it over caramel! Delicious.
ReplyDeleteI have made this dip before - it is awesome!!! very, very sweet! also an FYI - I soak my apples in pineapple juice for about 1 hour and they will not turn brown for days!!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome tip Thanks
DeleteAwesome tip Thanks
DeleteYou can sprinkle apple slices with FruitFresh
DeleteThis sounds wonderful!! Going to get apples & Heath Bits tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteWe have made it too but we use splenda and splenda brown sugar so it is health too!!!!
ReplyDeleteHealthy? Hmmm...
DeleteI could not find heath bars ANYWHERE in our stores today even though I'm absolutely positive I've seen them in Rite Aids around here before.. got hershey nuggets (the ones with almonds and toffee inside) so here's to hoping it turns out as great!
ReplyDeleteoh bummer! hope it turned out :)
DeleteYou can usually find toffee bits and heath bits in the bakery section with the chocolate chips.
DeleteCan you tell me roughly how much this dip makes?
ReplyDeleteshould make around 3 cups worth!
DeleteDoes the cream cheese need to be softened first? Making this for our thanksgiving party! Can't wait :))
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to but it will help for sure. I use and electric mixer when I make it but softening the cream cheese will help make it more smooth.
Deletethank you!! :)
Deletehow long do you think it will stay good? I was going to make it tonight to have for thursday?
Deleteoops just seeing this. i'm sure it was great!
DeleteSounds good! Think I might replace one cream cheese for some marshmellow fluff or cool whip for a lighter texture, can't wait to try?
ReplyDeletedid it work out using the marshmallow creme. Sounded like a very good idea and thought I might do that.
DeleteWow, amazing blog. It's 6:45am and my mouth is watering just reading this recipe. Thanks so much for sharing your delicious food. I definitely look forward to making this.
ReplyDeleteJeff
This is about the most delicious dip I have ever had. Made it for New Years 2012 and guests were eating it with a spoon. Thanks for posting. If you have not made this, DO IT! Easy and amazing!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I hardly ever try this kind of sweet stuff...but THIS is a keeper! Even the boyfriend liked it.
ReplyDeleteI've been making this for years. I post it on FB every fall, but nobody has ever made it and told me how much they enjoyed it (their loss). Your family named it Crack Dip for a reason. IT IS ADDICTING! And yes, I HAVE eaten it by the spoonful! I think everyone that stumbled upon this recipe should at least try it. You'll be hooked! You don't have to stop at apples. Let your imagination be your guide!
ReplyDeleteGREAT POST!!
Sounds absolutely delicious!!! On my way to the grocery now!! I think I will get teddy grahams & pretzels ( as another viewer suggested) along with the apples!!! Thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteBeen making this for years! Known as Apple Crack! It is the best ever!
ReplyDeleteSame recipe as PDQ . Its amazing!
ReplyDeleteThat's why I was looking for the recipe... because I tried it first at PDQ! :)
DeleteYum! Can you freeze it?
ReplyDeletei'm not sure it would freeze very well.
